Starting a blog post with an acronym is really funky. Once again, my selection-of-the-week is a frenchie: not that I am chauvinistic, but it seems that my fellow french designers are not that into talking about themselves overseas — and we have to promote things other than cheese and fries, haven’t we? I discovered Tom Henni via a charming production he made for a nearby poetry festival. He currently live in Lyon and seems pretty implicated in the graphic design life.
The entire set of flyers and posters are printed with mettalic gold ink finish, with a strong typographic work. Not only was this already beautiful, but on top of that, he made a collectible “gift” box, with a transprent gold mailer full of flyers and such. His whole work is really type oriented, and I think he’s very representative of French ontemporary graphic design. Take a look at his portfolio, and if you happen to pass by the small city of Caen, pay a visit at “la poésie nuit” festival, from 3 to 14th of March.

That’s some nice work. I didn’t understand it but I still like the look of it. The WYSIWYG one is probably my favourite, mainly because I know what WYSIWYG means!
I should learn French.
Hey Mark,
On the first flyer, it’s written “circulate” or “flow”.
On the poster, it’s written “Approach”
The name of the festival, la poésie nuit, can be translated as “the poetry night” or “the poetry is hazardous”. Pretty funny ^^
The red one says: You are alone. Who’s the sect?
And the WYSIWYG is also for a poetry exhibition organised by “poetry of the editions”.
I hope this can help, I didn’t actually thoght that it could interfere with the vision you had of the works. That’s very interesting though
And thanks for the comment, as ever
Hello !
Thank you for this post, i also love graphics as you can imagine !
A way for me to discover your blog… i just started to “circulate” into it. Nice !
In fact, the meanings of those words are really important, as they are always speaking for differents things together : the festival, yourself when you read the message, and the medium himself.
And also, i just updated my post about this work on my website, there are more images to be seen…
Greetings from France !
Tom
Hi Tom! Thank you for coming by!
I could have answer you in French (as I’m a fellow frenchie, from Caen) but I think it’s better to let everyone understand the conversation
Thank you for your insight on your design, I think it can help us understand your aim as a designer.
I’ll update the post then! Keeps us updated of upcoming works.
Thanks again!
Cool ! Thanks ! bye !
