Did you see the Poulpe Pulp website? It’s full of vintage octopus goodness. And everyone loves a bit of tentacle from time to time uh?

The attack of the octopus
Aiming for 2.0 (open-letter)
Dear Social Medias gurus, dear SEO specialists, dear 2.0 self-proclaimed entrepreneurs & geeks.
I know your are very busy at the moment, trying to make 2.0 web better for us. But could you find time to read this?
This is a 2.0 twitter-user christmas wishlist… So please make my dreams come true this year, and let me find nice little packages under my tree:
. Can you please stop blindly tweeting content related to a keyword? It makes you look like a bot. Bots are not so social to me.
. Can you avoid posting content all in a row, so that your avatar doesn’t pop-up in a big column motion all at once, making your content un-legible and looks like flood?
. Can you stop posting auto-DM messages when I follow you? I don’t like being fooled, especially when you won’t ever talk to me ever after.
. Do you really listen to those 1500000 following/followers of yours? Because it’s seems so noisy… Quantity over quality is not very glamourous, is it? Especially when you’re not a celebrity.
. Please share valuable content. Sharing the love is great. Retweeting is the core and soul of tweeter, but maybe adding a bit of your insight could be nice too?
. Can you, sometimes, answer questions? I thought discussing was the heart of 2.0 and social medias stuff… I don’t see you discussing very often.
. Auto-promotion is cool. Doing only auto-promotion is not really sharing content, actually…
. Oh and sometimes, you can even tell us about your life. It’s not valuable content, but it makes you look less like a bot, more like a possible human. I could even feel related to you.
. All of this is called implication. But if you’re really a good social marketer, you already know this.
. I also want a poney.
Just to see less 2.0 marketers profiles and more interesting people behind them, I’ll left you some cookies and milk.

Ps: For people unfamiliar with the twitter world, I suggest you do not take this post too seriously. Twitter is like the real world: you’ll learn new languages and customs, make friends, won’t understand some weirdos, be bored, or be excited and probably will end-up ordering some pizzas (because you always do). But mostly, like IRL, you should not take yourself too seriously, or you’ll end up wirting posts like this because of the zillionh Social Media Guru profile that follows you. And this wouldn’t be very productive, huh?
Covers by John Paul Thurlow

I juste stumbled upon M.JPT’s work, and all I can say is: awesome.
In his own words:
“This is an hommage (six months in), an attempt to create cover art for every great magazine I own (+ a few I wish I owned). It’s never a straight crib and it’s not about perfection, the source magazines are simply a playground for my imagination…
Covering covers lets me combine some of my favourite things; portraiture, pencil sketching, typography, graphic design, and ideas – there’s usually one in there somewhere.
The occasional photos illustrate the Covers process: I draw A3 & A4 sections which I sometimes collage or retouch in Photoshop.”
A sure way to be creative and demonstrate high skills both in drawing and composition. If you wanna see more go to his Flickr page or his blog. Enjoy!
