As I said before, the OFFF festival is taking place at the moment in Paris. This second day has been pretty intense too, and full of inspiration, surprise, awe, and marvels.

The guy has been discussing what he’s learned during is carreer, and all I can say is, he learned quite a lot. The presentation was amazing: simple slides, no need for fuss and images, and simple, inspiring, sticky quotes. As a matter of fact, it is by far the best show I’ve seen so far. Most of the speakers just present their work, when he actually explained and spoke about what is work in general. Plus, the slight touch of humor is always a bonus. Some of my favourite quotes:
“Pick your battles.
A little step in the right direction is better than standing still.
In a hierarchy, every employee tend to raise to his level of incompetence.
take the time to understand people.
Learn to suffer fools.
NERTFM: nobody ever reads the fucking manual.
The more people get, the more they want.
You start to work before you get to the office.
Minimalism is the result of reduction.
People who wants to share their religious views with me almost never want me to share mine with them.
A person who’s nice to you but not nice to the waiter is not a nice person.
…”
If you’re interested, you can request a copy of his presentation by sending him an email at hoss [@] flamjam.com. His mailbox will surely be full by tomorrow and he’ll be drawn in an ocean of pain. This is when he’ll learn that being good at something attracts lots of people who wants to know about it
The rest of the day was spent watching some of the most creative people you’ll ever know.
What caught my attention:
Kaiten Mokuba from Thomas Hicks on Vimeo.
Thomas Hicks – Go check his vimeo page! This man got a whole universe in his hands, not your regular animator guy.
And as I imagined, Pleix was just… HUGE. Yes, I’m using words in capitals. It was just completely crazy. Those are French and if you don’t check their website, you’re doomed on 7 generations.
As you can see, this post is a bit messy and over enthusiastic. So much inspiration in so little time makes me shiver with anticipation (this is a quote, yes).
If only there was some WIFI there so I could send you the vibes as they come…
