A few days ago, I’ve posted a few vintage shots of New York, showing lots of wonderful typography and bright colors — and at the same time, showing a city full of life and people. Stumbling upon this photo serie by Allan Tannenbaum, I was just mesmerized by the other side of the coin. I can’t encourage you enough to take a look at the wonderful article over there at The Selvedge Yard, for it’s a really interesting piece of history.

You wouldn’t even recognize this place back in the 70s… you’d have been tripping over hypodermic needles, and fighting off the hookers back then.  It was nasty, man.”

This work makes me shiver a little with disgust. This photo serie is called “Stop the violence“, and well… It definitely makes you think, even if it’s a bit too literal for me.

Jump! Philippe Halsman

How could I’ve not come across this before is still a mystery to me.
Philippe Halsman’s work is probably one of my biggest photography crush ever: portraits of famous people jumping all over the place? Pure genius, and fun, mind you — which makes for the incredible serie of photos beneath. I will not be able to thank The Photography Post enough for this discovery — take a look at the awesome insight on the photographer’s life. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
