The designer’s disease

Posted June 5th, 2009 in Everyday life by Zélia

As I was chatting with my friend Samir the other day, we came across the incredible revelation that we were both sick from a strange disease. Not that we’re suffering from any horrible symptoms involving itchy skin, nauseating smell and crave for fresh brains… At least for now. No flu symptoms either, be it from birds, pigs or even dolphin (which may be the next one, undoubtly.)

So what?!
Procrastination. Abusive use of the words “should”, “may” or even “maybe”. Making up new amazing projects that will never see the light of the office neon lights. Forgotting about blogging because there was something better to watch on TV. Craving to design things, to learn how to draw properly, to code, to speak a new language and to do some sports. All things that personnal trainers tell you to do on a regular basis in order to be a better person — but you don’t have a personnal trainer, so you keep forgetting. We’re suffering from a designer’s disease: the itch to make things that you will never find time to make.

If anyone got the antidote around here, please let me know.
For now, I go back in the flow of the over-working zombies, but I can’t help to think that, somehow, the “should” will someday happen.
Maybe if I can kick my own butt pretty hard…

Love and a bit of lettrpress on top of that.

Making things happen.

shredded A

Shredded A design.

Dear readers,
I didn’t have a lot of time lately to update properly, or even to finish my design updates. Things are, a lot of work — or at least, work that get my mind busy, took my free-time and energy.

In the same time, I took important decisions that I really cared about, such as becoming an organ and bone marow donnor (I’m passing the medical exam on Tuesday, and I’m pretty nervous about it actually).
Anyway, now that my mind is getting free of all of this considerations, I hope to be a bit more concentrated on the blog. I’d like to complete a makeover all by myself — this including coding a template and not only borrow elements from other themes. (Anti-procrastinating device, I shall remember that…)
Anyway, I’m down with telling you about my life ah!
Have a great night/day or wathever you fancy :)

See ya, and in better conditions,
Zélia.

Weekly resolutions

Posted January 18th, 2009 in Everyday life by Zélia

Got any? That’s good for health.

This last week had been a bit brain-taking, and I had no time to concentrate on anything else than work. Which means, it’s time to get this straight again: I’ve got better to do.

Firstly, I have to write my new years vows. Go plenty of letterpressed cards to print and send. I was supposed to do this today, but as ever, was caught by sleep in the afternoon.
Then, I’ve got to clean up my font folder a bit: it’s getting messy in there damn!
And eventually, I’ve to clean up the blog too, it starts to look clumsy.
The odds are, I’ll be playing katamari damacy a lot (how addictive), watch Dexter and Sailor Moon (What??),  and read my last san francisco chronicles book. I’m that weak, that’s creepy!

Anyway, what about you, any more interesting plans for the week?
Please save me from my procrastinating mood!

Week-start

Posted January 11th, 2009 in Everyday life by Zélia

I feel terribly lazy these days. So, no more than a vintage TV ad for today — I’m busy planning a we in Glasgow, preparing tommorow’s bentô (avocado and thuna onigiris maybe)  and looking at my beautiful new lamp. And yes, that’s no excuse, I’m actually procrastinating.
If you want more, go and suscribe to the ILG facebook group, now online thanks to the über-fantastico-chic Coline! And have a great week  everyone ;)
