Weekly inspiration

Posted May 11th, 2009 in Graphic Design & trends by Zélia

It’s been a while since I’ve posted an inspiration mashup. Actually, it’s been a while I’ve posted anything — which is surely related to the fact that I haven’t been able to do anything else than sleeping lately. With no more whining, some great links…

• Wu Tang covers. Damn beautiful!
Milton Glaer: 10 things I have learned.
Steve Jobs on Paul Rand and his logo design.Graphik Tasarim.

SAYI 30

The ugly truth behind starting a webdesign blog. Shhh!
The 4 hour workday.
Vanilla case study by Jon Contino.

Most of this courtesy of the incredible undrln, the only website that saves you a RSS reader. And now, I’m back to sleep…errr…work.

Take care, and thanks for reading.
Lots of ampersands,

Zélia.

Weekly inspiration

Posted March 6th, 2009 in Blog, Graphic Design & trends, Photography by Zélia

We are Friday, and, as ever, I didn’t find the time to post all the amazing stuff I stumbled upon this week. You never know when you won’t find the time to post, and as I’m not a professionnal blogger, I don’t write my posts on week-ends. Anyway, let’s go for the weekly cool stuff round-up.

• The wonderful photographs of Alyz are a must see for retro/moddy effects lovers.
• 20 corporate brand logo evolution. As the title says. Pretty inspiring, and shows the tendancy to overwork logos nowadays.
Things graphic designers like. Okay, this is just scary.
• 15 inspirationnal pink websites. Pink is good.
• Augmented reality makes such a fuss. This is a really cool example of it’s numerous use.
• 15 things I wish I had known when I started my first blog. Very useful.
•  My friend Purdey made those cute sequin-made pacman thingies. I’m in love.
• What makes a good creative director?
• Love to make list? Makefive

• Some yummy vintage japanese stuff. That’s why I love graphic design.

• Your inner bits have never been so sexy. Cune fashion wear

And now for something completely different…
I’m off to a little week-end in the charming country of Scotland. Let alone my lack of laptop there, I won’t be blogging much there, as I’ll probably spend my time in pubs or museum, or drunk in museums. Have fun and thanks for reading!

Designer of the week: Ilk

Posted February 20th, 2009 in Graphic Design & trends by Zélia

Today, Ilovegraphics turns 4 months. In order to celebrate properly the birthday of my anti-procrastinating device (which makes me procrastinating even more in the end), I’ve decided to inaugurate a new weekly post. “Designer of the week” will showcase works that made me  smile, made me look, made me shiver, in no particular order.
Let me introduce you to Ludovic Prigent, aka Ilk. My first designer-of-choice is a nice french guy, working with his cat Pitou, exploring the vast fields of illustration, photography web, print and identity design. He has worked for Artoyz, Nike or Virgin, and is now described as the frenchy “creme de la creme” (aka, the trendy guy) by Trendsnow, who’ve just released an interview as I write this. (Damn, wasn’t quick enough on this one, should have posted it yesterday! What was I thinking, doing something else?) Even if his portfolio features a wide range of professional works, I have a special crush on his photoblog: everyday life bits are my favourite.
With no further talk… (Because you know, they all say you don’t read post, you SCAN them, tsskkk.) Pictures!
